First edition of 450, numbered copies. Printed on both sides. On one side the work History of Monuments, “a whopping forty-two-meter photograph resembling a bas relief sculpture. The models and props were placed within carved-out contours on the prepared backdrop and smeared with a variety of bronze colored clays, before being arranged in such a way as to “remake” a dozen of famous statues, including the Statue of Liberty, Victory of Samothrace, Manneken-Pis, Chairman Mao and a soldier of the Terracotta Army”. The other side “includes Wang’s artist’s statements and, a preparatory sketch with a photomontage of the real statues, colorfully marked up…” (The Chinese Photobook, page 324).
