One of 300 copies of the hardback edition. 62 photos, taken between 1988 and 1990, printed in duo-tone, of parts of human constructions in the former mining region in the north of France, marked by the time and people. The book begins with a line of poetry by the Dutch poet Gerrit Achterberg: “I must follow the dead traces; hieroglyphes of life”. Designed by Reynoud Homan. Printed by Rosbeek BV. This copy of his first self-published book, has been signed, dedicated (to the photographer and designer Toon MICHIELS), dated (4-4-’92) and numbered (“N°XII”) by Paul den HOLLANDER + an original (loosely laid-in) photograph (31 x 277 mm.), titled at the back “XII “Untitled” 1997” in pencil by Paul den HOLLANDER, who added also his name and address.
